With a degree in Art from Auburn University as a start, Lucy has continued
her pursuit of the love of painting and teaching as a career. She
has established herself as an artist and leader in Augusta and the
state of Georgia where she has worked to keep art an important part
of community life. She has served on the Board of Trustees of the
Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art,
President of the Georgia
Watercolor Society and secretary of the Southern
Watercolor Society. She is also a member of the Watercolor
Society of Alabama, Member of Excellence in South
Carolina Watercolor Society, Hilton
Head Art League, Sacred
Heart Augusta, and Leadership
Augusta.
She
also paints oil landscapes and watercolor portraits. Lucy works
in water media, often combining watercolor, acrylic and collage.
Her impressionistic landscapes and floral paintings are full of
light, texture, and movement; her portraits shine with sparkles
of light and bits of personality.
Lucy has received numerous awards for her painting locally and nationally,
is included in private and corporate collections internationally,
and was honored by her community by receiving the Woman of Excellence
Award for her contribution to the Arts.
She
was also voted Best Artist by readers of Augusta
Magazine.
Her
painting, Angel Triumphant, was featured on the cover of
the Nov./Dec.2002 issue of The
Upper Room magazine.
She
paints in her home studio and her work can be seen at these locations:
Broad Strokes Gallery in Evans, Ga and Ellie Winston Interiors on
the Hill in Augusta. Also Nancy P. Kitchens Interiors in Augusta.
Some of her work is also showcased at the Watson
Gallery in Atlanta.
